Arizona Winter School 2020: Nonabelian Chabauty
AWS 2020 will be held March 7-11, 2020 at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.
Important Information about COVID-19
The Southwest Center and the University of Arizona are committed to promoting a safe and productive environment at the 2020 Arizona Winter School. In accordance with CDC guidelines, the following precautionary measures have been instituted:
- Participants who have traveled to any country with a CDC level 3 or above travel warning in the past two weeks are not permitted to attend the meeting. This includes China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy.
- Anyone awarded travel support by the Southwest Center who wishes to cancel may submit their cancellation fees for reimbursement. Registration fees will be directly refunded to participants who choose to cancel.
- All lectures will be live-streamed to enable and promote remote participation.
- Students assigned to one of the four research project groups may participate remotely by tele-conference. Project assistants will share remote participation links by email with their respective groups.
- Bottles of hand sanitizer will be available in and around the main lecture hall and the evening working sessions. Supplies may be limited, so participants are encouraged to bring their own for personal use.
In addition all participants should review and follow advice on the CDC and University of Arizona websites. In particular:
- Avoid contact with sick people.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Clean your hands often by washing them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. It is especially important to clean hands after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.
- If you experience cold or flu-like symptoms: remain in your hotel room and contact The Southwest Center immediately.
Please refer to University of Arizona academic calendars for the tentative dates of future Winter Schools. (The AWS begins on the first day of the University of Arizona's Spring Recess in any given year.)
- Registration is now closed. The deadline to register was December 7, 2019. The deadline to apply for funding was November 8, 2019. Funding decisions were sent out in mid January.
